My Acne Journey and Tips
If I can help at least one person to become acne-free as I did,
then I have done my good deed for the day.
I came across some information that said to watch out for cinnamon and musk and to avoid foods or products that contain either one of those ingredients. I am living proof that people can have acne problems due to allergies related to cinnamon and musk. This includes internal and external exposure. You can tell from my pictures above that I have suffered with ugly acne. Here’s my story and I'll get right to the details and tips.
- I immediately stopped using my musk perfume and stopped eating foods containing cinnamon. Unfortunately my favorite chewing gum was Big Red which contains cinnamon.
- I threw out all of my bath and beauty products that contained musk and any ingredients related to cinnamon. Lots of beauty products contain ingredients that start with “cinn”, I stay away from them. This includes hair products too.
- I used Arbonne’s 'Clear Advantage' anti-acne skin care line to clear up my pitiful complexion. It contains 1% salicylic acid, an effective acne fighter. I also like and have had success using 'Proactiv' skin care. Out of all the anti-acne products I have tried, these two are my favorites.
- My anti-acne skin care TIP: Both Arbonne’s 'Clear Advantage' and 'Proactiv' are gentler than lots of the other brands, they still can be drying, cause that’s how they work, but not as bad. They don’t smell like sulfur (rotten eggs). 'Clear Advantage' wonderfully smells of peppermint!
- Another TIP: Apply regular, mild soap on your eyelids and neck to prevent those delicate areas from becoming dried out when using any acne wash. This acts as a protective coating.
- It does take patience for the existing acne to go away. Mine took about a month. But boy, my skin was finally clear! I have yet to find any miracle potions out there.
- It also takes patience and a conscious effort to start reading labels on everything you eat or use on your face or body. I don’t know about you, but I would rather read labels then suffer with acne.
- After 9 years of suffering with acne, I can’t tell you how happy I am to have finally found a solution! In the past, I had tried everything and I had seen dermatologists, with limited success.
- Purchasing or using Arbonne’s 'Clear Advantage' skin care line or 'Proactiv's' skin care line is completely optional. I wanted to mention them because they are wonderful products that I enjoy using.
- I would feel guilty if I do not share this free and very valuable acne information with others.

-- Avoid foods and products containing any ingredients related to musk and cinnamon.
-- If you accidentally consume foods or use products with one of those ingredients and your face breaks out, use your favorite anti-acne skin care line to clear it up. Yes, this sometimes happens to me because a lot of non-suspecting foods contain cinnamon. It's amazing how many foods and products contain cinnamon or cinnamon related ingredients.
